Studies:

University of Nebraska-Lincoln,  

Including study at the Architecture Association (AA), London, England, the Royal  Institute  of  British  Architects (RIBA) and  Moscow  University,  Moscow,  USSR: 

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture 1984, with a minor in Structural Engineering from the University of Nebraska.

 

Mr. Mastera began his Architect's internship being selected from several graduates around the nation to intern with the granddaughter of Frank Lloyd Wright, Elizabeth Wright Ingraham in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He subsequently passed the very difficult, week long, Architectural Licensing Exam in the first sitting, a feat accomplished by only 5% of individuals seeking a license in the profession.

Career: 

Mr. Mastera began his practice in 1987 in New Canaan, CT.  Mr. Mastera’s diverse work includes architecture for clients such as the Western Wyoming Community College Campus, the Vista Grande Community United Church of Christ in Colorado Springs, CO, which won a design award from the American Institute of Architects.  Also commissions from Glenn Close, Actress, a Cabana that includes an indoor basketball court and bowling alley for a New Canaan resident, renovation of The Congregational Church of New Canaan and offices for the Helmsley Group in New York City.  Mr. Mastera has also designed the 5 Million dollar Master Plan for the Stanwich Congregational Church and Cemetery in Greenwich, Connecticut.  His work includes hundreds of projects since 1987 in the Educational, Civic, Medical, Commercial, Retail and luxury residential markets.

 

Awards: 

Mr. Mastera has been awarded two AIA Awards for his designs.  Most recently in his work has been published in the hard cover book, Dream Homes, and his recent design for a New Canaan design won a HOBI Award.  He is recently featured in Life @ Home Magazine, the New York Times and many other publications.
